Habakkuk Part 1 - The Tough Journey to Joy in the Lord

January 3, 2021 Speaker: Josh Montague Series: Minor Prophets

Topic: Minor Prophets Passage: Habakkuk 1:1– 3:19

The role of the Old Testament prophets was to speak God’s word to God’s people, reminding them of God’s character and his covenant. Habakkuk’s day was filled with “destruction and violence ... strife and contention” (1:13), yet he was able to “rejoice in the Lord” (3:18). As Habakkuk’s eyes focused more on God’s glory than his own circumstances he was able to find joyful faith. As we look on the destruction, violence, strife, and contention of our day, we too, can find joyful faith as we enjoy God’s sovereignty and mercy.
